The DEVONthink 3.0 public beta is free to use, but a valid license key will be required after the public beta phase has ended (as well as for accessing email archiving and text recognition capabilities beyond the trial limits). All three editions now require macOS 10.11 El Capitan or later. The company has retired the DEVONnote note-taking app. DEVONthink 3 uses the same database format as previous versions so you can open them in DEVONthink 3 without losing the capability to switch back to the previous version. The Server edition also enables you to provide co-workers access with a built-in Web interface. The DEVONthink 3 Pro and Server editions provide an extended feature set, including an improved OCR engine for scans, custom imprinting options for PDFs and images (including placeholder text and Bates numbering), email archiving, and integration with the Bookends reference manager.
